Aidea Designs P300-Million Polakay Island Resort
Ibayo Island Resort Corp. has partnered with the municipal government of Pola
to put up the Polakay Island Adventure Resort on Kabilang Ibayo Island, also
known as Polakay Island, in Oriental Mindoro. The project, which broke ground
last April 13, is a complete eco-tourism resort development.
Aidea Philippines, Inc., ranked No. 86 globally in building design, has been
commissioned to do the masterplan for the development. In creating the design,
Aidea applied an integrated planning process. The architectural theme will be
modern organic, with an edgy design that features the dynamism of nature.
Traditional materials will be used but with modern massing.
According to Ibayo Island Resort President Roderick Ongcarrenceja, the resort
should be finished in three years' time. It is envisioned to be an eco-tourism
resort highlighting the natural wonders of Kabilang Ibayo Island. The world-class
eco-tourism resort will promote educational nature trails and water-based activities
highlighting the area's rich biodiversity.
Polakay Island and Adventure Resort will promote not only water sports and adventure,
but will also showcase the local culture, food and cuisine of Oriental Mindoro. The
project will involve the construction of a resort complete with a clubhouse, a huge
infinity pool, indoor/outdoor amenities, parks, gardens, a fishing village, an adventure
park, a wakeboarding area, a wildlife sanctuary, and mangrove park.
This will be supported by resort infrastructures that will make the island ideal for
different outdoor activities such as adventure trips, mountain hiking, ziplines, rock
climbing, trekking, bird watching, and firefly interaction, as well as water-based
activities like wakeboarding, kayaking, diving, snorkeling, wind surfing, parasailing,
kite boarding, fishing, and hiking.
